DEMOGRAPHIC DIFFERENCES ON CAREGIVER BURDEN, PSYCHOLOGICAL DISTRESS AND HOPELESSNESS AMONG CAREGIVERS OF PSYCHIATRIC PATIENTS

OBJECTIVE: To explore the demographic differences on caregiver burden, hopelessness, and psychological distress among caregivers of psychiatric patients. METHODS: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in Pakistan Institute Medical Sciences Islamabad Nishtar Hospital Multan, eight months from 10th April 2019 to 20th November 2019. Purposive sampling technique used include 240 different age Psychiatric patients (with duration illness type illness) which were assessed Burden Scale for Family Caregivers, Kessler Psychological Distress Beck Hopelessness Scale. RESULTS: Out participants, 124 (51.6%) females 116 (48.3%) males, ranging 18 45 years. Results disclosed that group 36-45 years showed significant mean difference 18-35 hopelessness at p<0.01.
